Academic Standards

Academic Achievement Objectives for Baby Class – Ages 4-5

 

During their first year at Ikirwa School our students work on the following subject areas:

 

  • Identifying and naming objects from their  immediate classroom, school and home environments in English

  • Identifying  and naming in English shapes and colors

  • Listening comprehension using nursery rhymes and poems

  • Sorting items

  • Matching items

  • Molding different objects

  • Coloring simple diagrams

 

Academic Achievement Objectives for Preparatory Class – Ages 5-6

 

During their second year at Ikirwa School our students work on the following  activities:

 

  • Number sequence

  • Counting and writing numbers 1-50

  • Object and number addition

  • Concepts of more and less

  • Number and object subtraction

 

Reading and Phoenics

  • Identifying  sound and objects

  • Blending words with the use of vowels

 

Pre- Writing

  • Scribbling

  • Molding objects

  • Colouring from left to write

  • Formation of letters

  • Dictation

 

Personal Hygiene and Toilet Habits

Social Skills

Academic Achievement Objectives for Mid Preparatory Class – Ages 5-6

 

During their second year at Ikirwa School our students work on the following pre-number activities:

 

  • Sorting and matching items

  • Identifying, counting, tracing and writing objects and numbers in values  from 1 to 10

  • Matching  numbers and number values

  • Number sequencing

  • Scribbling
